Morgan was guest of honor last Sunday when his wife entertained with a delightful din ner at their home upon the oc casion of his birthday. Out-of-town guests' attending were Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Adams, Mr. and Mrs. George Jackscn and daughter, Alice Lou, all of Dunn, and D. T. Morgan of Fayetteville. at the country club in Lumberton on last Wednesday evening. Covers were laid for Dr. and Mrs. Bender, Mr. and Mrs James Dickson Mc Lean, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gibson. Mrs. E. H. Alexander Is Aces Hostess Mrs. E. H. Alexander was hos tess to the Ace of Clubs at her home last Friday afternoon with four tables of bridge in play. A delicious dessert course was served when the guests arrived. After several progressions of bridge high score prizes were awarded to Mrs. George Ashford for the club members and Mrs. Bob Cathey for the guests. Mrs. Warren McNeill scored low and the traveling prize was given to Mrs. R. D. McMillan, Jr. Mrs. Alexander presented a love ly guest prize to Mrs. Hazen Fouts of Jacksonville, Fla., houseguest of Mrs. William McLean. Mrs. Norwood Gives Supper For Choir Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Norwood were hosts on Saturday night when they entertained members of the Baptist church choir with a delightful supper at their home. Those guests present at the af fair were: W. S. Morgan, Hart man Baxley, Misses Mae Boone, Elizabeth Murray, Eunice Duncan, Elsie Ray Britt, Rosalynd Davis, Jackie Morgan, Mrs. Dave Cope, Mrs. F. M. Mrs. Waverly S. Barham, who has been a patient at the Baptist hospital at Winston-Salem for the past ten days, is progressing nice ly, according to Mr. Barham who visited her Monday. Mr. and Mrs. HaskaH Hall of Pineville arrived Monday to spend several days this week with Miss Mae Brown. Mrs: George Nurnberger, Jr., of Charlotte is spending this week with Mrs. George Nurnberger, Sr., and her daughters, Judy and Juanita. Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Sinclair were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Stark in Columbia, S. C. Mrs. Stark returned with her mother for a short visit. Miss Sarah Ivey was a. weekend guest of Mrs. J. E. McKellar. Miss Mildred Monroe of Flora Macdonald will return to the col lege today after spending spring holidays at Barium Springs. Billie Lewis Wins Rotary Medal RED SPRINGS — Billie Lewis, 1 high school junior, will represent Red Springs in the county speak ing contest to be held Friday evening at the Lumberton High school. The subject of the contest is "World Peace through the United Nations. Billie, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Knox M. Lewis, won over a field of contenders in a contest among the students of the Red Springs school last week, and in so doing will receive the Rotary club medal which is awarded at com mencement time each year for the winner o fthis feature. The contest is directed by Miss Cornelia Ayres, teacher of his tory. her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Evelyn Odom, Miss Dalia Stanton, Thomas. and Mrs. Clarence Stanton. Mr. John was the uncle of Lacy John of Lumber Bridge, and the father of Mrs. Henry McLeod, whose husband is the sonof Mr. and Mrs. D. P. McLeod of Red Springs. He was the founder of the town which bore his name and one of Scotland county’s largest farm operators.
